This page addresses difficulties with downloading or installing the MetaScient Oracle. If you have a working installation and need technical assistance that is not provided in the Help library of the program, open the Oracle User's Manual in the MetaScient Technology program group, by clicking 'Start, Programs, MetaScient Technology, Oracle User's Manual'.
Download Problems
Sometimes difficulties are encountered with network traffic when attempting to download the program. If a download is interrupted and does not restart, the download must be canceled and restarted, or you will be left with a corrupted file. These dropout problems are more likely to occur during peak internet activity. Generally, network traffic is minimum during the late night hours, U.S. time.
Problems During Installation
If you encountered a problem during the program installation, an install log and a repair manual popped open to assist you with whatever manual adjustments are necessary. Instructions are provided there. If not, see below.
Re-installing a Failed Installation
To re-install a failed installation, you must first un-install whatever components may be remaining with the Uninstaller for the MetaScient Oracle {unmst4.exe}. Then re-install with the latest Installer for the MetaScient Oracle {msoracle.exe}. If you still cannot install the program, see "Continuing Problem" below.
Cannot Open the Program
If the program installed without errors, but you are unable to open it, then your installation is incomplete and needs repair. The solution should be addressed in the repair manual. If you were not notified during the installation that repair is necessary, or you cannot find the solution to your particular problem in the repair manual, see "Continuing Problem" below.
Continuing Problem
If the suggestions above cannot resolve your problem, please put the following information in an email: type of Windows system, description of what is wrong and what you are doing, and the exact wording of the caption and body of the error message received from either the installer or the program. Then send it to us.
